On-line databases :

NSL provides access to over 1500 international databases through STN and DIALOG. In addition, NSL provides access to important online database/resources viz. Web of Science (WOS), Derwent Innovations Index (DII), Delphion, WIPS, Questal, etc.

 

 

 

Web of Science (WOS)

(Web of Science) Contain information gathered from about 10,000 scholarly journals. NSL has access to: Science Citation Index Expanded (1945 – present) Social Science Citation Index (1987 – present) WoS is a tool to serve two purposes ;

1. Research tool for conducting literature search; and

2. for scientometric and bibliometric studies. One can search by topic, author, source title, and address. It enables to find bibliographic information and abstract of article that cites a previously published work.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR)

(Journal Citation Reports) JCR enables to find out journal’s performance matrices including Impact Factor (IF). A comprehensive and unique resource that allows to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn from over 7,500 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300 publishers in over 60 countries. Only source of citation data on journals, and includes virtually all areas of science, technology, and social sciences One can know the:

  1. Most frequently cited journals in a given field
  2. Highest impact factor journals in a given field
  3. Number of journals in a field

 

Essential Science Indicators

(Essential Science Indicators) ESI is important resource to analyze trend and performance statistics. It provides access to a unique and comprehensive compilation of essential science performance statistics (i.e. journal article publication counts) and science trends. Employs both total citation counts and cites per paper scores. Provides updated data on most cited scientist rankings, institutional (university, corporate, government research lab) rankings, national rankings, and journal rankings, current research fronts; highly cited papers and hot papers.

Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA)

  1. A comprehensive bibliographic database in the area of library and information science
  2. Covers over 440 periodicals from more than 68 countries in more than 20 different languages
  3. Citations contain bibliographic information, indexing and abstract
